Gary D. Nelson serves as Chairman of the Board for iWorkGlobal. Considered an expert in the field of human capital and talent management, Nelson serves as Founder and Chairman of the Board at Nelson Family of Companies. Gary shares his wealth of experience through speaking engagements and board appointments and is frequently called upon by the media as an industry expert. Nelson’s companies share a core value of innovation and he credits creativity and collaboration as the driving force of their success. Gary’s keen grasp of prevailing economic and business trends has lead the Nelson Group of Staffing Companies to its position as Northern California’s largest independently held talent acquisition firm, and 44th largest staffing company in the United States. A graduate of San Jose State University, Nelson is recognized in his local community as an outspoken advocate for healthcare and education. As a philanthropist, he has headed efforts to open and support public charter schools and to develop Sonoma’s Field of Dreams project, building a youth baseball and soccer complex.
Jeff’s career spans 30+ years of successfully building and leading innovative telecommunications and human capital management organizations. As the COO of iWorkGlobal, Phelps is responsible for operations, client services, compliance, risk management and corporate support services. Jeff is also a member of the executive team that is responsible for the design of the strategic direction and market development for the global human capital management enterprise.
Jeff is a recognized industry expert in contingent workforce management having led organizations responsible for the design, development, implementation and management of comprehensive workforce management programs. His client experience spans virtually every market segment and includes fortune 500 companies as well as regional firms. Jeff has successfully expanded businesses to operate throughout North America with a reach now spanning into 14 countries.
Prior to iWorkGlobal, Jeff held various executive level positions in general management, human resources, compliance & risk and management, business development and client services with AT&T, WorkforceLogic, ABE Services, Secure Talent, and The Nelson Family of Companies.
Paul brings over 15 years of business experience to the iWorkGlobal (IWG) team. He has had key business development, channel and partner management roles in various areas of business and also has many years experience in both domestic and global payroll and human resource services.
During his time with Barclays/Clearlybusiness Paul was a key part of the team that took the company from start-up to £30m within 8 years. It was here that he gained valuable experience developing innovative products, services and partnerships.
Paul’s key responsibility at IWG is to develop new and existing product and service offerings. To do this Paul identifies, vets and partners with the market leaders in their field, ensuring IWG’s clients benefit from the best available services and highest quality delivery.
Paul has a BSc Honours degree in Business and Engineering.
Kay brings more than 15 years in technical staffing and contingent workforce management, along with 25 years in business development and sales. Responsible for new client acquisition and business development, Kay’s area of expertise is independent contractor compliance, risk management, and global contingent workforce management.
Kay has been instrumental in building multiple independent contractor compliance organizations and is a recognized expert on the complexities of worker classification and 1099 validation. Kay has developed, executed, and spoken at multiple events focusing on various employee/employer-related topics, such as co-employment, exempt versus non-exempt employees, and employment misclassification. In her sales role, she exceeds annual revenue goals though new client acquisition and has increased revenue by more than $100 million in four years.
Kay began her education at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and continued it in California at the University of Phoenix where she graduated with honors, earning a bachelor’s degree in business management. As a leader in her industry, Kay has also garnered several employer-awarded honors for exceptional performance.
iWorkGlobal’s Chief Technology Officer Eric Edelstein holds a Ph.D. in mathematics with a doctoral minor in quantum physics. Originally anchoring his career in all things mathematical, Edelstein’s imagination was captured by software development early on and his professional focus was unleashed on the technology realm. Eric draws on a distinguished application development track record with industry leaders including Bachmann, Fidelity Investments, Aetna Insurance and Varian Semiconductor, where he served as a principal architect in designing the first real-time remote DCOM control system. He eventually followed his Silicon Valley dream to Northern California, shifting his focus to the HR industry. Since that time, Eric has served as principal architect of HRhome and has developed customized timekeeping systems, job boards and integrated VMS systems. Eric is also the founder and president of YiddishLives.com, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving life stories in Yiddish.
John Nerstad has more than 20 years of excellence in client services and over 10 years of 1099 compliance and risk mitigation expertise. Prior to joining iWorkGlobal as the Director of Operations, John was a Senior Account Manager at Secure Talent. In this role, John oversaw all payroll, human resources, benefits, AP/AR, Workers’ Compensation, safety, quality assurance, and client/employee satisfaction. Before joining Secure Talent in 2008, John was a Manager in Client Services at WorkforceLogic, LLC where he managed client service specialists and client relationships, including four on-site programs. John excelled in this role and was awarded the company’s President’s Club for outstanding customer service for exceeding client and employee expectations. As a Client Services Manager, John managed up to 250 employees and 18 accounts across the US and Canada. He was also a recipient of the Nelson Family of Companies Outstanding Operations Associate award in 2002 as well as a member of the Nelson Family of Companies Leadership Development Program in 2007. Prior to working for Nelson, John had an extensive career with Nordstrom, receiving numerous awards for going above and beyond expectations. John holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration and economics from San Diego State University.
In his role as Chief Financial Officer for iWorkGlobal, Michael J Bowcut leverages 25 years of experience as a CFO and Controller. Michael also serves as the Corporate Controller for Gary D. Nelson Associates. Prior to his work with iWorkGlobal, Bowcut served as Chief Financial Officer of Provigo Corp., a Northern California grocery conglomerate, and Artis Inc., a television production company. Bowcut is a Certified Managerial Accountant and received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration from California State University East Bay.
